Humans of LBCC
Phillip Jones
“I actually started as a nursing major here, and I shadowed a couple of my friends for a few days while I was getting ready for some of my nursing classes and realized I had no patience for I guess moronic moves that people can make, I guess repeat offenders is what I would think of. Like don’t bash your head against the wall, then they go and do that. It was like I don’t know if I can do this. So, I took a couple science classes because I was still like I don’t what I need to do, I’m like maybe history. I took a couple history courses and I loved it and then took a science class and that’s when I was like maybe I should do something in science or something."

Week 1 Forum
Topic 1 - About me
I'm James Michael Weatherford Jr, I prefer Mike or Dub/Dublin (Nickname from high school) simply because James (Jim) is my father. Fun fact, I absolutely hate the suffix Jr, it makes me feel like I'm supposed to live up to my father's life - which is cool for some, but I've got no interest in following in his footsteps. I'm a life-long comic book fan and Fanfiction writer. My ultimate goal is to have my original characters become canonized and become official. I'm a Journalism major despite trying to enter the creative writing field, I say this because Journalism calls for noting real events and I prefer to write fantasy and events that have slim to no chance of happening in the real world. I'm in JN134 for two reasons, first and foremost is that it's a req for my degree, second I'm interested in photography beyond taking pictures of animals and nature on my phone. I'm of Irish descent and grew up with my mother's side of the family - the Halloran clan - so naturally I tend to show more love for my Irish heritage.
Topic 2 - Goals for this class
As I mentioned before I'd love to learn to use a camera other than the one on my phone. Also, I'd like to learn how to take real life photos, what I mean by this is pictures of people being people. I realize that with a Journalism degree I do stand a higher chance to get in with a paper or other news outlet, I'll likely use this in the meantime while I try to get on with Marvel or DC - So having the ability to capture real life photos will give me a better opportunity for a good career should my dream goals fall through.
Topic 3 - LBCC Photos
The obvious events would be sports related, but I tend to favor doing things the hard way. Being a comic and gaming fan, I personally would talk with the clubs for comic books, anime, or gamers to get an idea of what events they have coming so I can attend them and photograph the event. Another idea would be the career days or high school students scouting the college. There's a blood drive going on currently, this event could offer some awesome photo ops.
